For the joy of movement

We are all constantly changing.  Our bodies change just as our minds do.  Here at Balance Fitness, we learn movement for the sake of movement can feel good, and the overall goal is wellness, in both mind and body.  

A BIT ABOUT ME

Growing up, the only organized athletic activity I participated in was P.E. class in school.  Despite reminders to "stand up straight" from well-meaning friends and family, I could not seem to fix my posture on my own.  In adulthood, I finally connected with fitness mentors that helped me understand the role that balanced muscle tone and flexibility played in achieving better posture, as well as for reducing risk of injuries and resolving nagging pains due to alignment issues.  I studied the 'Contrology' components developed by Joseph Pilates, who struggled with childhood health issues.  In 2009 I became a certified as a group exercise instructor with a Pilates focus.   I immediately began teaching but I also remained a student, always intrigued by multiple exercise formats.  In January 2022, I completed my Yoga 200 hour instructor training.  I adore teaching and find joy in bringing knowledge and wellness to others.  I work with a wide range of people, and always love creatively adapting my instruction in order to create modifications or supports for individual needs.

PRIVATE TRAINING 

I offer 1-1 training both in-person at my Richmond, Va studio or online.  Pair up with a buddy for a duet, or set up your own mini-group for a special occasion like a girls' weekend or family reunion.

SPECIALIZED INSTRUCTION

We are all human and unique, and every day is different.  Past or current injuries as well as health conditions can affect recommended exercises. I specialize in providing variations and adaptations to make exercise accessible for everyone.

GROUP CLASSES

Consistency is key in wellness; we keep a regular schedule of in-person and virtual classes on the calendar so that you can continue to build your strength, improve your balance, and increase your endurance.

I don't love to exercise but I always love the feeling I get after our workouts!  Loved what you said about being strong and able to do things.  And thanks for always making me laugh!
